There are currently proposals for divorces in the UK to be moved online, meaning couples could instigate divorce proceedings via their mobile phones or laptops and avoid the need of attending Court.
Generally speaking, in an uncontested divorce, couples do not attend Court in any event.
Divorce and the financial claims arising from a marriage are complex and I am certainly interested to see how the Courts will regulate these matters.
If financial matters are not dealt with at the time of divorce, these claims remain open. Without the benefit of legal advice, many do not realise this and so couples divorcing online may be at risk.
