The Christmas and New Year holiday can be a stressful time for couples, when finances are stretched and relationships strained.
The New Year often brings a time for couples to evaluate their relationships and to reconsider their plans for the future.
As a result in January, there is a considerable surge in new enquiries to family lawyers and mediators.
It is important that separating couples take the time and care to choose the family lawyer that is right for them, and do not rush headlong into a bitter and costly court battle. A divorce supported by the right team (be that a lawyer, mediator, counsellor or financial advisor) can help maintain and support long lasting relationships for separated parents and their children.
Emily Hall and Caroline Frost are both trained as collaborative family lawyers, placing a strong emphasis on resolving family disputes in a constructive manner.

Relate, one of the UK's biggest relationship charities, said it receives a peak in calls in January as issues within a marriage or a long-term relationship come to a head over Christmas. In January 2017, Relate received a 24% increase in calls to their helpline compared with the average month, and councillors expect to see a similar peak this year.
